The Villa Next Door by Beverley Harvey

Date:

A dream holiday. A fractured marriage. A dangerous secret. The author of The Perfect Liar takes readers on a nightmare vacation.

When Ryan and Emma Burrows win a luxury holiday to Menorca, it feels like the fresh start their marriage desperately needs. Seventeen nights in a sun-soaked villa with their six-year-old daughter Callie. What could go wrong?

Their neighbours seem friendly enough. Jack and Sheena, with their two young boys, are quick to organise playdates. Max and John, charming and sociable expats, seem eager to make friends. But beneath the surface, tensions simmer. Emma can’t shake the feeling that something is off.

Then Callie disappears. A ransom demand follows, and suddenly, everyone is a suspect. Secrets from the past rise to the surface, exposing lies that threaten to unravel everything. Soon Emma and Ryan must face the truth about their marriage, their neighbours, and the devastating mistake that could cost them everything.

REVIEW

“The Villa Next Door” begins with a slow burn that builds anticipation for what’s ahead.

Sometimes, the slow build-up is just as captivating as the climax because it weaves a web of intrigue.

The suspense intensifies as the story progresses! Those unexpected twists were all-encompassing.

It’s always such a rush when you think you’ve got it figured out, only to have everything turn upside down!

The ending twist was well-crafted and truly surprising. It felt like the author was playing chess, with each move leading to a stunning finale.

A well-written story and definitely one to add to your library.
