This groundbreaking and innovative book is a must-read for anyone genuinely interested in teaching, the education of our children, and the future trajectory of learning procedures as a whole.

Readers of philosophy will gain insights into key ancient and contemporary thinkers – such as Rousseau, Kant, Foucault, and Andy Clark – while others will be introduced to the topic from broader perspectives found in anarchism, language, psychology, rights, and feminism.

Book Excerpt

“Expressed so, besides individualist anarchists, it is vital not to forget the other end of the spectrum, vis-à-vis social anarchists who underscore the importance of social education for achieving as well as maintaining the anarchist ideal. Encouragingly, on this matter, it is noteworthy numberless anarchist schools have undeniably existed in the past: a few cases in point being the Escuela Moderna in Barcelona (1901–1906) founded by Francisco Ferrer; the Modern School in New York and Stelton; not to mention the schools founded by Paul Robin, Sebastien Faure and Madeline Vernet in France.”
