Title: The Radical Radiance of the Fishing Fly
Author: Lewis Schrager

David Nichols has built his life on logic. A disciplined medical researcher, he trusts facts far more than feelings. But when his older brother Larry survives a grueling battle with cancer, the fragile distance between them begins to shift. Larry, who spent his illness tying intricate fishing flies and dreaming of Alaska’s remote rivers, is determined to take the wilderness trip he promised himself he would make if he lived. Reluctantly, David agrees to join him.

Dropped into a rugged world of obsessive anglers, brutal weather, and unforgiving rivers, David quickly realizes he is out of his element—not just in the wilderness, but with his brother. As old resentments surface and he forms an unexpected connection with a psychologist quietly carrying her own grief after 9/11, the journey becomes something far more personal than a fishing expedition. Set against the stark beauty of Alaska, The Radical Radiance of the Fishing Fly is a lyrical story of brotherhood, survival, and the unexpected ways people learn to heal.
